This is a planned canal-and-lake estate developed in stages from the 1970s and officially named in 1981, built around five man-made lakes and an extensive canal network. The housing stock reflects that history: spacious brick-veneer and rendered family homes from the first estate stages off streets like Galeen Drive, Christine Avenue and Dunlin Drive, many on waterfront blocks, with newer townhouses and units infilled closer to Treetops Plaza and the district centre. That mix means the electrical work is shaped as much by salt and age as by anything else.

The canals link through to the Broadwater and the ocean, so salt-laden air works away at meter boxes, switchgear and outdoor points far faster than it would inland. Corroded switchgear is one of the most common things we replace, and left alone it turns into loose connections, flickering lights or a switch that will not stay reset. The original switchboards from the first estate stages are the other recurring job, since they were never built for a pool pump, ducted aircon and a car charger all drawing at once, and plenty of those older boards still lack safety switches on every circuit.

Pools and spas are common across the larger waterfront blocks, and each one needs its own dedicated, RCD-protected circuit fitted with corrosion-resistant hardware. The estate also sits low around the lakes and canals, so summer storms and king tides put sudden load through the network and can push water where it should not go.
